A Unique Residential House Designed to Rotate with the Sun, Redefining Spatial Experiences
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gronych + Dollega Architekten unveils "Kylie," a groundbreaking residential house designed to rotate with the sun, creating ever-changing spatial experiences. Located on the outskirts of Heuchelheim, Hesse, Germany, this innovative structure challenges traditional architectural norms by seamlessly integrating the exterior and interior, offering residents a dynamic living environment.
The design of "Kylie" was inspired by the desire to constantly restage the relationship between the exterior and interior, allowing residents to emotionally perceive the changing seasons and the course of the day. The building's unique feature lies in its ability to minimize heating requirements in winter through solar gains, while providing shade in summer to prevent overheating.
Constructed with sustainability in mind, "Kylie" is a prefabricated modern timber frame construction, utilizing native hardwood such as oakwood for both its exterior and interior elements. The house also incorporates innovative technologies, including a groundwater heat pump for heating and a photovoltaic system for electricity generation, resulting in a net energy-positive balance.
The sculptural shape of the residential building is a result of extensive research and creative exploration, creating a variety of spatial situations both indoors and outdoors. The design process, marked by experimental architecture and intricate geometries, required a high level of passion and concentration from all parties involved.
Gronych + Dollega Architekten, based in Wetzlar, Hessen, Germany, is known for their experimental approach to architectural form, emphasizing the integration of lighting, space, and the building body to create unique, high-quality spatial experiences. Their work on "Kylie" has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2022, highlighting the project's outstanding and creatively ingenious design.
