One Line Studio, led by Tim Politis, reveals a groundbreaking architectural office in Denver, Colorado, balancing nature and design in a seven-year project.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
One Line Studio, led by Tim Politis, has unveiled an innovative architectural office in Denver, Colorado. The design concept draws inspiration from the surrounding natural landscape, aiming to create a seamless connection between the interior and exterior. The project took seven years to complete, including the planning phase.
The architectural office features a unique canted, naturally rusted steel wall that anchors one end of the structure, while a thin roof edge ascends toward the sky, framing an outward-looking glazed expanse. The vitrified façade is interrupted by a series of vertical cedar fins that soften glare and appear to climb toward the sky from the native grasses below.
The primary structure balances DLT panels, steel, and concrete, with compression clips fastening glazing to the steel structure, eliminating redundant framing. The use of alternating depth DLT panel walls adjusts and optimizes the interior acoustics of the studio, creating a creative work environment that encourages collaboration while retaining a constant connection to the exterior landscape.
One Line Studio's architectural office is a testament to innovative construction techniques, showcasing a plethora of design possibilities. The studio's commitment to sustainable and biophilic benefits is evident in the use of dowel laminated timber (DLT) panels, which serve as both a structural component and a finished panel system.
Tim Politis and his team at One Line Studio have successfully redefined the urban context with their graceful, slender building, nestled within a sliver of flora. The design reflects a deep understanding of the natural setting, reframing the connection to the landscape and setting new standards for architectural innovation.
