Nightscape Design Illuminates Ancient Chinese Architecture

AlexXu&Partners, a renowned lighting design firm, has brought the ancient Chinese architectural style of Sunac Wanda Realm Kunming to life through a captivating nightscape design. The project, located in Kunming, an ancient city with a rich multi-ethnic culture, features warm white tone lighting that reflects the local culture and architecture. The lighting color temperature is uniformly 3000K, with brightness graded based on different nodes, creating a refined, warm atmosphere at night.

The lighting designers adopted warm white tone as the main color and used customized lighting to reflect the local culture and the architecture. The scope of the lighting design covers 70000 sq.m. and utilizes washing and blooming effects of wall washers, small-sized spotlights, and customized lighting to create a special atmosphere at night.

Customizing luminaries to match the ancient charm of the architecture was a key challenge that the designers successfully overcame. The project, which commenced in January 2018 in Shenzhen and concluded in December 2019 in Kunming, Yunnan Province of China, has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2021.
