Ian Chen's innovative office redesign for Cathay Ins wins Silver A' Design Award in 2024
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ian Chen's redesign of the Cathay Ins office in Taipei City, Taiwan, has been awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2024. The project, completed in June 2022, aimed to overturn the stereotype of a stressful and stiff office environment by introducing a serene ocean blue canopy in the central multi-functional area. The design seamlessly combines classic industrial elements with a modern and neat style, creating a unique and functional workspace.
The 998 square meter office features a transparent layout with a central sofa area cleverly separating two sides of the office space, creating an invisible boundary between areas. The introduction of a "stage effect" integrates seemingly fragmented areas through a projection screen, while the sofa area serves as a core space for team collaboration, meals, and informal discussions, fostering a strong sense of community among employees.
The design also prioritizes flexibility and privacy, with movable partitions and sliding doors allowing for customizable layouts and varied levels of openness. The use of stone, wood fiber board, stainless steel, and other materials, as well as the incorporation of elements like track lights and air ducts, contribute to the industrial aesthetic while maintaining a warm and inviting atmosphere.
