Calmspace: A Mobile Design Concept for Mental Well-Being

Anqi Chen, a New York-based UX Designer, has developed Calmspace, a groundbreaking mobile design concept aimed at addressing technology-induced anxiety in young adults. Inspired by the challenges of the pandemic, Calmspace offers a freemium model with free well-being features for self-focus and group activities, along with an innovative reward program to encourage users to learn about digital anxiety and track their well-being performance.

Calmspace is designed for iOS devices, optimized for iPhone 12/13 Pro, and aims to bridge the gap between self-care and social connections, providing a visually appealing and functional user experience. The project, which began in February 2022 and was completed in April 2022 in New York City, USA, underwent several rounds of iterations and usability testing to ensure its effectiveness.

Chen's research into young adults' anxiety through digital technology, market trends, and primary research insights has informed the development of Calmspace, which seeks to promote a healthier digital lifestyle and enhance happiness through proactive interaction.

Calmspace introduces a three-step onboarding process for first-time users, offering guided introduction and individual activities to manage mental well-being through self-care or group activities. The app also includes a Learning page for understanding digital anxiety topics and a Profile dashboard to track performance.

As a New York-based UX Designer with a focus in AI design, Anqi Chen has received international recognition for her design works, including the prestigious A' Design Award.
