Introducing "Kanpai" - A Unique Citrus Liqueur

Designer Hui Tu introduces "Kanpai," a citrus liqueur inspired by Taichung City, the largest planting area of citrus fruits in Taiwan. The product, named after "Kanpai" (meaning Bottoms Up in Chinese), aims to celebrate the local produce through a newly developed processing skill.

The packaging design of "Kanpai" features the geometric images of citrus tankan & ponkan, with the texture of citrus skin presented through partial glazing and punching techniques.

Realized using pet three-dimensional printing, "Kanpai" measures 80 x 80 x 240 mm and is designed to be chilled, twisted off, and enjoyed.

The project commenced in May 2022 and was completed by October 2022 in Taichung City. Marketing activities were launched in December 2022, following extensive design research and modification based on consumer feedback.

Despite challenges in promoting the product identity and pricing policy due to the comparative affordability of agricultural products, "Kanpai" stands out as a unique representation of Taichung City's citrus heritage.
