Sanaz Doost, a Toronto-based jewelry designer, has unveiled the Mushroom Fantasy ring, a wearable piece of art that captures the magic of childhood fantasies. Inspired by the enchanting world of mushrooms and childhood fairytale stories, the ring features a unique design that combines the form of mushroom gills with the golden spiral for a side view, creating a mysterious and captivating aesthetic.

The ring is handcrafted from 18K yellow gold and adorned with natural blue sapphires, representing raindrops. The bold contrast between the gold and sapphires, along with the golden ratio design from the side view, adds to its eye-catching appearance.

Measuring 30mm in width, 20mm in depth, and 30mm in height, the Mushroom Fantasy ring is a testament to Sanaz Doost's exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. The ring's mat textured finish, achieved using a European wheel brush, further enhances its unique appeal.

Sanaz Doost meticulously handcrafted the ring from scratch, from making the alloy to forging, rolling, and designing the ring. The challenging process of suspending the natural sapphires without any base to hold them required precision and skill, making the creation of this ring a true labor of love.

Sanaz Doost began working on the Mushroom Fantasy ring in November 2019 and completed it in April 2020 in Toronto, Canada. Her extensive research into mushroom structures, shapes, and growth processes, as well as her dedication to recreating the gills with 18K gold, demonstrates her commitment to excellence in design and craftsmanship.

Despite facing technical and creative challenges, including soldering the gold gills in parallel without melting them and suspending and setting the sapphires, Sanaz Doost's perseverance and expertise resulted in the creation of a truly exceptional piece of jewelry.
