Hans Augustenborg Unveils Canairi, a CO2 Monitor with a Unique Twist

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Canairi: Revolutionizing Indoor Air Quality Monitoring

Hans Augustenborg introduces Canairi, an innovative CO2 monitor designed to measure indoor air quality and encourage ventilation through nudging and storytelling. Inspired by the concept of 'the canary in the coal mine,' Canairi provides a simple yet effective solution to the invisible problem of poor indoor air quality.

Canairi's design language makes it easy for children to understand while appealing to the minimalist adult, creating a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics.

On the outside, Canairi features a minimalistic interpretation of a canary bird, equipped with a CO2 sensor connected to an algorithm correlating to levels recommended by Health Authorities worldwide. It is made of recycled plastics and comes with a rechargeable battery and a wall-mount, powered by a 5000 mAh battery with a mini-USB port for charging or power supply connection.

Canairi operates simply: when the bird is standing up, it indicates good indoor air quality, and when it falls down, it signals poor air quality, prompting the user to ventilate their home. Unlike other air quality monitors, Canairi utilizes storytelling and gamification as nudging mechanisms to encourage intuitive action, standing out with its unique approach.

The first prototype of Canairi was 3D-printed in Copenhagen in 2020 and has now reached a final stage with a production-ready prototype set for market launch in 2022 Q2.

During the design process, the team conducted extensive research on nudging mechanisms, behavioral design, and indoor air quality, involving experts and students from various institutions. This led to the development of a product that simplifies a complex problem, offering a fresh and intuitive solution.

Canairi has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Home Appliances category, highlighting its well-designed, practical, and innovative nature that meets professional and industrial requirements.
