Introducing Puro, a multifunctional appliance designed to alleviate the psychological and physical problems faced by pets in single-person households in South Korea.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TAEUK HAM's Puro is a groundbreaking pet care robot that addresses the challenges faced by pet owners in single-person households. The innovative design aims to tackle the issues of leaving pets alone and maintaining a sanitary environment, offering a unique solution to enhance the well-being of both pets and their owners.
The initial concept of Puro was centered around the idea of a robotic cleaner specialized in removing pet hairs and dust. However, through further development, the design evolved to incorporate various electric sensors and components, including a camera, gyroscopic sensor, IoT connectivity, and vacuum cleaning motors. Additionally, the inclusion of a treat dispenser not only aids in alleviating anxiety disorders and boredom in pets but also provides a solution for pet owners to interact with their pets remotely.
Utilizing cyclone motors, Puro not only cleans floors but also purifies the air and removes animal hairs. The incorporation of purification filters and advanced sensors allows the robot to detect and interact with pets, providing a comprehensive solution for pet care and cleanliness.
The Care Robot measures 370 x 370 x 100mm, while the Station comes in at 500 x 700 x 150mm, offering a compact and efficient solution for pet care in limited living spaces.
Puro offers three distinct modes of operation: Play Mode, Clean Mode, and Air Purification Mode. When pets are left alone, the Play Mode engages, providing treats to encourage physical activity and alleviate anxiety. Subsequently, the Clean Mode ensures the removal of crumbs and debris, maintaining a clean living environment. Finally, the Air Purification Mode activates when the pet rests on the designated station, effectively purifying the air and removing odors and hairs.
The project commenced in September 2019 and concluded in December 2019 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, following extensive user research and surveys to understand the unique challenges faced by pet owners in single-person households. The innovative design of Puro earned TAEUK HAM the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing the exceptional creativity, technical prowess, and innovation demonstrated in the development of this groundbreaking pet care robot.
