Brendan Cheung's Treasure Kids Library project is a captivating fusion of Disney-inspired aesthetics, Christian stories, and STEM education, creating a unique and enchanting learning environment for children. The project, located in Hong Kong, is a multi-functional space designed to ignite young minds with creativity and knowledge. In a small area of around 300 square meters, the space serves as a library, seminar venue, kids workshop area, teacher training space, and interactive lesson zone, offering a multi-dimensional learning experience for children.
The design integrates bright colors, streaming shapes, and extra-large fixtures like curved arches and bookshelves, creating an ambiance reminiscent of fairy tales. The space features multi-level lighting settings and cave arches to separate different zones, providing an immersive and engaging experience for young learners. The project's unique focus on gardening as a background adds a natural and refreshing touch to the space, fostering a connection with the outdoors and nurturing a love for nature among children.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the project is the active involvement of children in the design process. Over the course of a year, the design underwent extensive discussions with the school's administration, teachers, and other stakeholders, including government authorities. The project's emphasis on safety, incorporating Christian stories, and promoting STEM education presented unique challenges that were creatively and thoughtfully addressed by Brendan Cheung.
