Chen, Kuan-Chiao's "The Chasing of the Sunlight" interior design project, awarded Iron in A' Design Award 2022, redefines residential space with innovative solutions and practical elegance.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chen, Kuan-Chiao's "The Chasing of the Sunlight" interior design project is a testament to creativity and functionality. The 25-square-meter single-story residential building in Taipei City, Taiwan, showcases a unique approach to maximizing space while maintaining essential living functions. The design, completed in January 2021, embodies a blend of introverted and low-key dark and light grayscale, along with light wood color, creating a flexible and inviting living space.
The project's standout feature is the open layout, allowing vision, light, and shadow to permeate the space, even when the glass doors are closed. Despite the limited area, the design incorporates a dining area for three to four people and two bedrooms, meeting the owner's expectations. The kitchen, though compact, boasts complete cooking functions, while the enlarged bathroom features innovative solutions, including a classic barn door and an instantaneous water heater placed above the ceiling to optimize floor efficiency.
Chen, Kuan-Chiao's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the construction, with indoor walls coated with a clear water mold and a waterproof wood floor. The dining table, made of an imitation stone system board, adds aesthetic appeal and practicality to the space. The design also overcomes challenges such as waterproofing the enlarged bathroom and integrating light media, such as glass sliding doors and shading curtains, to replace solid walls.
