Designer Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang Unveils Innovative Crystal Cave Design for Beans Cafe
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned designer Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang has unveiled a groundbreaking design concept, transforming Beans Cafe into a one-of-a-kind dining experience in Ma On Shan, New Territories, Hong Kong. Inspired by the concept of a cave, the Crystal Cave design brings a sense of comfort and warmth to the cafe, providing a protective shelter for customers to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
The 2263 sq ft cafe, designed by Vincent Chi-Wai Chiang and Kevin Ho-Pun Lau, features a stunning lake at the entrance ceiling with a waving stainless steel surface, complemented by 3D-printed narrow gull rocks to simulate the power of nature. A central tree grows towards the middle, creating a natural ambiance with special lighting that mimics true sunlight.
The project, which commenced in October 2017 and concluded in March 2018, was a result of extensive research and meticulous attention to detail. Chiang's visits to various caves provided invaluable insights, influencing the design's ceiling, walls, and color combinations. The absence of windows presented a challenge, which was overcome through strategic lighting and reflective elements to open up the space.
