CHING-CHENG CHANG Unveils the Mua Lau Lounge Chair

CHING-CHENG CHANG presents the Mua Lau, a modern lounge chair inspired by the traditional Taiwanese snack of the same name. Crafted using innovative bamboo weaving techniques, the chair offers a multi-layered sitting experience, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern design.

The Mua Lau challenges artisans to redefine traditional techniques, infusing modern oriental style with the warmth of handcrafted bamboo. The chair will debut at the Young Designers Exhibition Yodex in Taipei, May 2023.

The seat is intricately woven using traditional bamboo weaving techniques, while the legs are made of metal elbows, providing a comfortable yet durable sitting experience. The chair's dimensions are 800mm in width, depth, and height.

CHING-CHENG CHANG, along with team member XU, DAZHAN, overcame technical and material challenges to create a sustainable and innovative design. The Mua Lau Chair has been awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award for its outstanding expertise and innovation.

Chang, a young designer from Miaoli, Taiwan, is dedicated to promoting local craftsmanship and sustainable production methods. His passion for conveying emotions and connections between humans and materials is evident in the Mua Lau Lounge Chair, which offers users a serene and nature-inspired sitting experience.
