W Horse Stud: A Unique Villa Design

Fahad Alhumaidi's W Horse Stud is a remarkable villa design that seamlessly integrates luxury living with the surrounding natural elements. Situated on a 10000-m2 site in Kuwait's Wafra agriculture area, the villa offers breathtaking views of the desert landscape and horse paddocks. The design, awarded Bronze in A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2021, is a testament to Alhumaidi's innovative approach to architecture.

The villa's layout is divided into two axes, with one dedicated to the horse stable and the other to the bedrooms, dining area, and a spacious living area overlooking the swimming pool. The house is elevated 140 centimeters above the ground to maximize the panoramic views, creating a unique living experience for its occupants.

Constructed with lightweight thermal insulated blocks, glass, concrete structure, and a lightweight steel roof system, the W Horse Stud embodies a perfect blend of modern technology and traditional design principles. The 40m terrace, shaded with a 3m cantilevered roof, not only increases the usable areas but also provides protection from the sun and the region's sandy weather.

Alhumaidi's deep understanding of horse behavior played a crucial role in overcoming the challenge of designing a villa for both horses and humans under one roof. The design reflects his meticulous research and dedication to creating a space that harmoniously coexists with its natural surroundings.
