Jonathan Beldner's Samara coffee table, inspired by locally sourced Indiana hardwoods, offers a versatile and elegant addition to any living space.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jonathan Beldner's Samara is a multi-functional coffee table that pays homage to locally sourced Indiana hardwoods. Inspired by the propeller-like shape of maple seed pods, the table's cherry and walnut construction showcases the beauty of the region's timber. The design incorporates removable lap desks, offering a unique blend of form and function.
The solid wood construction honors the locally sourced lumber from which it was made. The user can enjoy Samara as a place to rest drinks and books, or unscrew the top cap to reveal mini tray tables that can be used as workstations or surfaces for eating.
CNC manufactured using solid walnut and cherry wood, Samara features cross laminated timber legs for enhanced strength and laser engraved top leaves that enhance its Samara inspiration. With dimensions of 1200mm in width and 430mm in height, this elegant coffee table offers both practicality and aesthetic appeal.
Jonathan Beldner's Samara project began in August 2018 and was completed in December 2018. Extensive research, prototyping, and collaboration with forestry professionals were essential in overcoming the creative and technical challenges associated with the design. The project culminated in the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design.
