Dorota Dyk's Medapti offers a groundbreaking solution for administering oral medication to babies, addressing safety and ease of use concerns.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dorota Dyk's Medapti is a revolutionary oral medicine syringe adapter designed to address the challenges parents face when administering medication to babies. Inspired by her own struggles, Dyk's innovative solution gained interest from international media, health professionals, and major children's hospitals in England, including Great Ormond Street, Alder Hey, Sheffield, and Manchester Children Hospitals.
Medapti's unique design surpasses current products by directing the syringe to the side of the baby's mouth, ensuring safe and efficient medication delivery. The mouth guard and softer material provide gentle positioning and prevent the syringe from going too far down the throat, prioritizing safety and ease of use.
The product, made of medical-grade, BPA-free thermoplastic elastomer, has undergone rigorous testing to meet safety standards, including a choking test and air-obstruction safety test.
The project began in 2013 in England and has since garnered attention, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021. Medapti is set to launch in the UK and on Amazon marketplace in April 2021, with plans for expansion into other European countries in the second half of the year.
Dyk's dedication to addressing the lack of standards for this innovative product led to close collaboration with safety testing companies, resulting in the addition of ventilation holes and a holder for added safety features. The design process involved approximately 50 modifications and numerous rounds of 3D printed and vacuum cast prototypes, culminating in a 2-cavity, hot runner mould made from steel for production.
Medapti's patents and trademarks, including GB1320255.1, EP3068362A1/WO2015071476A1, US2016279031A1, and multiple trademarks and design registrations, underscore its unique and protected status in the market.
