Ethan Zhang's "Jane" - The Eco-Friendly Foldable Phone Packaging

Ethan Zhang, the design manager of RRD Lab2064, has unveiled "Jane" - a revolutionary foldable phone packaging inspired by the ancient Chinese book form. The packaging, made from special paper with wood and fabric texture, features a removable user manual and is completely plastic-free, aligning with the trend of environmental protection. The innovative design, awarded Bronze in A' Packaging Design Award 2020, seamlessly combines traditional culture with advanced technology, providing users with a unique and ceremonial unboxing experience.

Measuring 198*192*47 mm, "Jane" is a testament to the fusion of ancient Chinese fonts and traditional book forms with the latest technology products. The packaging's user manual, wrapped around the surface of the box by magnets, can be detached and rolled up, offering both functionality and decorative appeal. The design team, including Xia Peng, Wu Weifeng, and Hu Zhangxian, worked on this project from July to December 2019 in DongGuan, China.

Ethan Zhang's commitment to creating packaging solutions based on product thinking has resulted in "Jane" - a packaging that not only provides protection and facilitates transportation but also enhances the user experience. The design's incorporation of best practices in art, science, and technology has earned it the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award, recognizing its technical and creative prowess in contributing to quality of life improvements.
