Desky: Enhancing Hybrid Work Efficiency

Inspired by the post-pandemic shift to hybrid work, Desky is a user-centered tool that enables employees to balance in-office collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. It offers a seamless transition between remote and office work, enhancing productivity and workplace satisfaction.

Desky stands out by combining desk booking with a weekly activity overview, providing visibility into colleagues' schedules and events, thus simplifying the decision-making process for office attendance. It is designed to enhance collaboration and productivity, perfectly suiting the needs of the modern, flexible workplace in the hybrid era.

Realized primarily through Figma, Desky is accessible via web and mobile devices, optimized for a responsive, user-friendly experience across devices and major browsers. It offers a dashboard displaying weekly office activities and desk availability, allowing users to swiftly book a desk for a specific day or set up recurring bookings for regular office visits. Users can also see when their favorite colleagues are coming in and explore an interactive map showcasing office events.

The project, which started in August 2023, was driven by extensive research, including market analysis, user interviews, and competitor analysis, to effectively address workplace needs and promote flexible work arrangements. Desky's innovative features, such as colleague tracking and interactive maps, helped it stand out in a crowded market, making it pivotal for a productive and enjoyable work environment.

Zhiqi Lin's expertise in UI/UX design, accessibility, and front-end engineering, combined with a deep understanding of user-centered design, has been instrumental in the development of Desky, earning the design a Bronze A' Design Award in 2024.
