FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Maryam Hosseini's "Infinite" is a convertible and foldable leather bag with an origami design inspired by the geometry of the dome of the music hall of Aali-Qapu, an imperial palace in Iran. The bag responds to user diversification by its changeable shape, offering at least 40 different shapes while maintaining its functionality as a bag. The bag is a sustainable solution in consumption due to its durable material and unique design.
The bag consists of 96 cow genuine leather pieces and 18 no-sew snap metal button sets. It was designed in 2D and 3D in AutoCAD, then cut by laser cut, and the parts were attached to a soft and foldable suede base, and then sewn entirely by hand. The dimensions of "Infinite" when not folded are 200*400 millimeters, and it has different dimensions in other faces.
In the process of design and creation, research was done in the field of sustainable consumption, origami patterns, leather folding, consumer behavior, and how to use elements and geometric proportions of Iranian architecture in creating practical products. The design of this bag started in February 2023 in Tehran, Iran, and was created in July 2023.
