Preserving Natural Diversity and Culture in Adygea

RTDA, a leading architectural bureau, has revealed the master plan for the Lagonaki Mountain Eco Resort, situated in the breathtaking landscape of Dakhovskoye village, Maikop district, Republic of Adygea, Russia. Inspired by the rich culture and stunning nature of the Adyghes, the resort is designed to preserve the region's natural diversity while offering a unique eco-friendly and sustainable experience.

The resort's development aims to ensure the preservation of natural diversity, with a focus on hiking eco-tourism and immersion in the local culture and ethnicity. The project includes the construction of hotels, a cable car station, and related public infrastructure facilities within a challenging terrain characterized by rocky hills and relict trees.

RTDA's team overcame the unique natural context to create a resort identity rooted in the culture of the Adygs, the indigenous people of the North Caucasus. The project integrates strict regulation of adjacent natural areas, ensuring their monitoring and protection, and defines development zones considering the impact on the natural context. The buildings are equipped with resource-saving equipment, following the "3R = Reduce + Reuse + Recycle" approach.

The project, which began in November 2021, is scheduled for completion in Q4 2024. It involves extensive research and socio-economic justification to preserve the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site and adjacent protected areas. The resort's design and realization technology were based on integrating the project into the challenging terrain, using geology and forest inventory data to identify and preserve valuable natural objects such as relict trees, ravines, and rocky hills.

RTDA's architectural bureau, founded in 2004 and now known as RTDA LLC, has been recognized for its outstanding work, including the Bronze A' Design Award in City Planning and Urban Design in 2023. The company's mission is to create comfortable living conditions by developing favorable environments for people and society, covering a wide range of services from urban planning research to architectural and interior design.
