Shenghan Luï¼Mengting Zhang Unveil Futuristic Design for a Mobile City at Sea
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
In response to the anticipated rise in sea levels and the increased frequency of marine disasters, Shenghan Lu and Mengting Zhang have unveiled the Wandering Ark, a revolutionary concept for a mobile city at sea. This hydrogen-powered trimaran is designed to be self-sufficient and resilient, offering a solution to the challenges posed by climate change and the need for sustainable marine habitats. The project is set to be completed at Macau University of Science and Technology from June 2023 to February 2024.
The Wandering Ark is a large trimaran with exceptional stability, capable of withstanding diverse sea conditions and providing ample living space within its superstructure. It integrates multiple energy collection methods, including solar, wind, and wave energy, as well as a seawater hydrogen production system, ensuring a sustainable energy supply. This innovative design represents a powerful habitat that harmonizes with the marine environment.
Utilizing advanced technology and innovative design, the Wandering Ark is a testament to the potential of future ship energy harvesting. The project incorporates a zero-emission approach, emphasizing self-sufficiency and environmental harmony. The design's realization technology combines traditional aesthetics with modern ship design, expressing the concept of respecting nature through its zero emissions and self-sufficiency.
Wandering Ark's length of 580 meters, width of 280 meters, and height of 140 meters make it a monumental and forward-thinking project. The concept design, focused on sea survival, trimaran structure, new energy sources, and zero emissions, positions the Wandering Ark as a pioneering endeavor in marine architecture and sustainability.
Shenghan Lu, the visionary behind the Wandering Ark, has overcome numerous creative, technical, and research challenges to bring this concept to life. By integrating cutting-edge technology and a deep understanding of marine dynamics, the project promises to redefine the future of marine habitats and sustainable living at sea.
