Happystudio introduces Hide and Climb, a groundbreaking residence designed to meet the evolving demands of modern living. Inspired by the rapid expansion of cities and the need for adaptable living spaces, Hide and Climb offers a unique blend of traditional functions and innovative features.
Hide and Climb is not just a residence; it's a treasure box that caters to the desires of its tenants. Integrating rock climbing with various activities such as working, learning, reading, and playing, this residence maximizes flexibility while maintaining essential functions like kitchen, dining, and bedrooms. The design draws inspiration from the idea of a tree house, symbolizing warmth and comfort.
The project, completed in 2019 summer in Taipei, Taiwan, took 3 months for design and 6 months for construction. The main material used is birch plywood, and the residence spans 110 square meters, offering a transformative living experience.

Jimmy Yung, Maggie Yang, and Tina Liao were the key members of the design team, who dedicated 3 months to the design and 6 months to the construction of Hide and Climb. The design team aimed to create a space that evolves with its occupants, considering the growth and changing needs of children over time. The design of a tree house echoes the idea of climbing, providing abundant room for children to play, which can later transform into functional spaces as they grow older.
The design of Hide and Climb was not without its challenges. The team had to overcome the difficulty of integrating sports facilities with the living space while maintaining a cohesive design. By harmonizing materials, colors, and organic shapes, they successfully unified the pattern of the entire space, achieving a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics.
Hide and Climb has garnered recognition in the design community, receiving the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2020 for its outstanding and trendsetting approach to modern living. The design reflects the prodigy and wisdom of the Happystudio team, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with its desirable characteristics.
