Minimalist Modern Interior Design Project: HL Residence

RUPERT OOI SAY YUNG, the design director, and Ernest Cheah, the chief designer, collaborated to create HL Residence, a minimalist modern interior design project that exudes tranquility in an urban setting. The design inspiration was derived from the client's lifestyle aspirations, aiming to turn their visions into a physical reality while embracing minimalist aesthetics.

The project focused on incorporating dark stained wood, natural marble, titanium-coated stainless steel, and cool tones to achieve a sense of muted luxury. The team aimed to establish a tranquil and comfortable environment, serving as a peaceful retreat from the fast-paced city life.

The furniture selection followed a minimalist approach, emphasizing simple yet functional pieces to contribute to the clean and uncluttered ambiance. Streamlined sofas, sleek dining tables, and minimalistic storage solutions were chosen to complement the overall design.

Designing a minimalist modern interior that exudes calmness in an urban area required careful consideration of various challenges. Factors such as noise, air quality, limited space, and privacy were addressed to create a serene oasis within the bustling city environment. The project successfully created a tranquil and peaceful sanctuary for its occupants by focusing on sound-absorbing materials, improved air circulation, space efficiency, integration of natural elements, and visual privacy.

HL Residence was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2024 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology to contribute to quality of life improvements.
