Wei Ju Teng's Dawn Home project, completed in January 2023 in Taiwan, is a transformative residential house inspired by the "Tea Zen" philosophy, tailored to meet the needs of young Parkinson's disease patients.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wei Ju Teng's Dawn Home is a remarkable transformation of a 1975 government staff dormitory into a barrier-free living space for young Parkinson's disease patients. By integrating the "Tea Zen" philosophy and smart home systems, the design aims to provide a therapeutic and convenient living environment.
The project focuses on improving the spatial environment, incorporating "tea mat aesthetics," and utilizing natural materials such as wood, mineral paint, and woven fabrics to create a warm and natural living style. The design also addresses challenges related to narrow interior circulation, lack of light, and poor ventilation, ensuring a safe and comfortable living space.
With a gross floor area of 138m sq. ft., Dawn Home combines the spirit of Zen and tea culture, offering an emotional connection with nature and a pleasant environment for the occupants and visitors. The project received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to improving the quality of life.
