Golf: Folding Chair Design by Miguel Arruda

Miguel Arruda's Golf design is a unique folding chair inspired by the ergonomics of natural shapes. The design, which won the Bronze A' Furniture Design Award in 2024, aims to achieve a relationship between rectangular and cylindrical elements, providing special ergonomic benefits to the user. Crafted from natural wood, the chair offers great mechanical resistance and features artisanal wooden hinge and fittings systems.

The Golf bench and chair are foldable, allowing for easy storage and transport, and are made from Pine or Sucupira wood. The project, which started in February 2022 and finished in August 2023 in Lisbon, presented challenges in finding wood types that could provide stability and rigidity without the use of metal parts. The design's unique properties and innovative realization technology set it apart in the world of furniture design.

Miguel Arruda, a renowned figure in the fields of Sculpture, Design, and Architecture, has received accolades for his creative and ingenious designs. His work has been showcased at major international fairs, and he has made significant contributions to the fields of art, science, design, and technology.
