Residential Design Project "The Pure Heart" by Hsiao-Chi Chiang

Hsiao-Chi Chiang's "The Pure Heart" project is a testament to the designer's ability to create a space that embodies purity and exploration. The project, completed in June 2021 in Taiwan, was designed to provide a carefree and lively environment for a family with two daughters. The design team utilized innovative techniques to overcome challenges related to limited window openings, lighting, and ventilation on the first floor of a 20-year-old apartment.

The unique features of "The Pure Heart" project include a double step couch that allows children to climb up and down, creating a theme of exploration, and a beveled TV wall that not only serves as a partition and storage but also extends the vision with a slanting angle to increase the size of the living room. The design team used terrazzo, wood grain HDP boards, metallic melamine, system cabinets, glass, baking paint, Soliboard, silicone lighting strips, and laminated glass to bring the vision to life.

Challenges such as limited lighting and beam obstructions were overcome with the installation of a U-shaped glass window and the reduction of window dividers, significantly increasing the view and lighting. The design team also incorporated pink tones with gold and gray to balance the childish atmosphere, creating a warm and pure interior that brings people back to their carefree childhood.

Recognized for its outstanding design, "The Pure Heart" project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023, a prestigious accolade that celebrates well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
