Xiaosai: The Future of Guard Robots

Ruichen Zeng's Xiaosai is an intelligent robot designed to address the challenges posed by overtourism in natural and cultural heritage sites. Inspired by the need to reduce the damage caused by overtourism, Xiaosai is equipped with features such as translation, explanation, navigation, and night patrol, making it a versatile solution for managing visitor interactions.

Measuring 550mmx400mmx620mm, Xiaosai is a compact and agile robot that can operate in small spaces, providing a friendly and aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional monitoring methods.

The robot's construction involves ABS with a painted metallic finish for the shell and top, while the bottom is made of polycarbonate, ensuring a lightweight yet durable design. The integration of an LCD screen and TPE material for the moving wheels further enhances its functionality and stability.

When deployed in exhibition halls or tourist sites, Xiaosai can be summoned by voice commands, providing navigation assistance and interactive explanations to visitors. Its self-avoidance capability prevents collisions, and when the battery runs low, it autonomously returns to the charging pile for recharging.

Designed and developed in Zhengzhou, China, the project commenced in June 2020 and concluded in December 2021, reflecting extensive research and technological innovation in the field of intelligent robotics.

Overcoming challenges related to miniaturization, power efficiency, and complex control systems, Xiaosai represents a significant advancement in the application of intelligent agents, aligning with the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence and robotics.

With accolades such as the Iron A' Design Award in Robotics, Automaton, and Automation Design, Xiaosai stands as a testament to Ruichen Zeng's commitment to creating impactful and innovative solutions that address societal challenges.
