Simple but Elegant: Leisure Complex Center

Chunli Zhang's latest creation, the Simple but Elegant Leisure Complex Center, is a testament to the fusion of traditional Chinese design elements with modern functionality. Spanning 4522 square meters for the building and 39478 square meters for the landscape, this center redefines the concept of leisure spaces within an industrial park setting.

The design draws inspiration from the Chinese philosophy of "left blank," creating serene and unadorned courtyard spaces with white walls. It seamlessly integrates leisure and functionality, housing a coffee shop, book bar, exhibition hall, office, and meeting spaces, all connected by a corridor designed in the eastern freehand brushwork style.

Embracing the challenge of the harsh northern climate, the leisure park with a lake offers a tranquil escape, carefully separating the experience space from the nearby park and traffic flow line of sight. The design's unique realization technology preserves the health of visitors, fostering a deep connection between people and the surrounding natural landscapes.

Incorporating mirror steel plates atop the corridors, the center reflects the surrounding environment, creating an immersive experience for visitors. The undulating backyard landscape and carefully curated footpaths further enhance the interaction between the space and its occupants, providing a moving and comfortable experience.

The project, awarded Bronze in the A' Architecture, Building, and Structure Design Award in 2021, stands as a testament to Chunli Zhang's commitment to creating spaces that prioritize humanistic and spiritual care. By reimagining the conventional industrial park setting, the Simple but Elegant Leisure Complex Center offers a sanctuary for physical and mental rejuvenation, addressing the needs of the internal staff and reducing the impact of mechanized work on their well-being.
