Shenzhen, China - Renowned designer Tao Ran unveils the Dragon Year Gift, a Pu'er tea packaging design inspired by the upcoming Year of the Dragon, showcasing the cultural taste of users. The packaging material, handmade paper unique to local ethnic minorities, expresses the ancient and cultural connotations of tea products.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
As the Year of the Dragon approaches, designer Tao Ran introduces the Dragon Year Gift, drawing inspiration from the auspicious symbol of the dragon in ancient Chinese mythology. The packaging reflects the geographical characteristics of Yunnan, China, the birthplace of Pu'er tea, and the strong aftertaste of the drink.
Using calligraphy and ink painting, the "dragon" illustrations were hand-drawn, creating a unique contrast between the restrained graphic style of the outer packaging and the wild ink style of the inner packaging, mirroring the refreshing and strong aftertaste of tea drinking.
The packaging material is made of Dai handmade paper, showcasing the history and cultural connotations of Pu'er tea with its environmentally friendly, simple, and ever-changing characteristics. The design aims to highlight the regional cultural characteristics of the product, with each copy being unique.
The Dragon Year Gift project commenced in Shenzhen in October 2023, completed in Yunnan in December 2023, and launched into the market for sales in Shenzhen in January 2014, achieving excellent sales performance.
Tao Ran's works have won 100 awards in major design competitions and exhibitions around the world, and he has been awarded honorary titles such as Shenzhen Technical Expert and Shenzhen Skill Elite by the Shenzhen Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
The Dragon Year Gift was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative characteristics.
