Renovation Project Transforms Old Apartment into a Tranquil and Spacious Retreat

KUN-HAN YANG, a renowned designer, has unveiled the 'View From the Window' project, a minimalist renovation of an old apartment in Taiwan. The project, aimed at creating a tranquil and spacious retreat, redefines the space and lighting to meet the needs of a couple entering a carefree second half of their lives.

The project's unique features include restoring the ceiling height, using saturated colors for harmonious contrast, and incorporating large windows to blur the lines between the interior and exterior. The design team utilized solid teak flooring, walnut veneer, and stone slabs to achieve a clean and unadorned visual effect, creating a seamless connection with nature.

The renovation project, completed in October 2023, was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its practical and innovative approach that meets professional and industrial requirements.

The 'View From the Window' project is a testament to KUN-HAN YANG's design philosophy, inspired by the location and the works of Japanese comic master Hayao Miyazaki. The project reflects a blend of Japanese style and romantic elements, creating a space that tells a romantic story with interesting adventures, much like the stories created by Miyazaki.
