Hedgehog Multifunctional Dryer: A Game-Changer in Drying Technology

Bjorn Holte, the widower and founder of Hedgehog, was inspired to create the Multifunctional Dryer after facing the challenge of keeping multiple pairs of gloves and boots dry and organized as a single parent in the snowy, rainy mountains of Norway. Dissatisfied with existing dryers, he set out to reinvent the technology, resulting in the innovative Hedgehog Dryer series.

The Hedgehog Dryer boasts a high-powered fan with quiet and tornado modes, adjustable heat for sensitive materials, ionic technology to remove odor and bacteria, and increased fire safety. The dryer's design, functionality, and performance set it apart from other products on the market, offering a more efficient and effective solution for drying and organizing sports and outdoor gear.

The optimized fan delivers 105 cubic meters of hot air per hour with a pressure of 300 pascal, making it multiple times faster than similar dryers. The series also features compact sizes for shipping and various extensions for different drying needs, providing a user-friendly interface for easy operation.

The Hedgehog Dryer project began in 2019 in Norway and saw its first version launched in retail stores across the Nordic region in the fall of 2021. The new Ionic i3 version, which removes odor, was released in 2023. The team collaborated with NTNU Hydro Power Laboratory engineers to optimize airflow and conducted extensive testing to ensure the design's efficiency and effectiveness, demonstrating that it dries five times faster than most products on the market.

Hedgehog Dryer has been awarded Bronze in the A' Home Appliances Design Award in 2024, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to quality of life improvements.
