Refreshing, Stylish, and Simple: The Spirit of Ink Villa

Ares Chiu, a renowned designer from Shenzhen, China, has unveiled "Spirit of Ink," a contemporary Chinese ink painting villa. Inspired by the elegance and grace of Chinese ink paintings, the villa offers a refreshing, stylish, and simple interior space that sets a personalized contemporary living trend benchmark. The project, which started in July 2021 and finished in October 2021 in Guangxi, spans an area of 165 sqm.

The living room of the villa features a unique splicing of ink black and elegant white, creating a space dotted with leather sofas, curtains, marble tables, carpets, and ceramics, reminiscent of an ink painting. The design incorporates Chinese painting-style boldness and naturalistic log elements, evoking the mysterious Tang Dynasty.

Chiu's design was awarded Bronze in the A' Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design Award in 2022, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious approach that authenticates experience and resourcefulness. The villa's design successfully overcame the challenge of incorporating Chinese ink painting elements without making the space feel dull or monotonous, resulting in a space that is heavy on the expression of composure and light on the piling up of luxury and function, ultimately pursuing infinite meaning in minimalist lines.
