Traditional mechanical locks pose a significant risk in emergency situations, where the inability to unlock the door from the outside can lead to dangerous delays in accessing help. Seniors Keeper's cutting-edge design integrates vital signs sensing devices, enabling it to detect emergencies and automatically unlock the door, emit a distress signal, and notify emergency contacts.
Designed to be user-friendly and effective, Seniors Keeper allows neighbors and rescue workers to communicate with the elderly through the door lock's microphone, enabling them to assess the situation and provide assistance promptly. The smart door lock's intuitive design and advanced technology make it a vital tool in ensuring the safety and well-being of elderly individuals living alone.
The Seniors Keeper intelligent door lock utilizes a motor-driven lock core, ensuring automatic unlocking in case of internal locking. It integrates LED lights, speakers, microphones, and a fingerprint sensor, along with a projection device that displays distress signals. The door lock's diameter is 70mm, and its height is 50mm, making it a compact and versatile safety solution for apartments.
Dr. Jiang Wu, along with Rukai Huang, Loïc Faulon, and Xu Sun, developed Seniors Keeper as a response to the increasing number of elderly individuals living alone in China. The project, which commenced in June 2023 and concluded in January 2024, was driven by analytical research focused on identifying the challenges faced by elderly individuals living alone and the need for effective emergency response solutions.
Seniors Keeper has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Idea and Conceptual Design category, underscoring its practicality, innovation, and contribution to enhancing safety and well-being.
