Combining Family Medicine and Dermatology in a Private Healing Space

Architect Kwang-il An and his team at 100A associates have unveiled the innovative Hyangsimjae Clinic, a unique medical facility in Daegu, Republic of Korea. The clinic, completed in 2019, offers advanced medical services in a setting designed to build intimacy and trust, creating a space for meaningful communication with patients.

The clinic's design focuses on creating a private area for healing and cure, limiting simultaneous access and the number of people staying there. Patients can enjoy natural elements such as light, fostering an atmosphere of comfort and intimacy for a truly restorative experience.

The exterior design, featuring a coarse texture and a contrast to the urban environment, reflects the clinic's commitment to providing a holistic approach to medical treatments. The building area spans 130 square meters, offering a carefully crafted space for patients to experience true healing and relaxation.

100A associates, led by Kwang-il An, along with Sol-ha Park and the design team, Da-jeong Lee and Yi-re Lee, worked diligently to bring the vision of Hyangsimjae Clinic to life. The circulation planning of the clinic is meticulously designed to welcome patients with a sense of time, nature, and light, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere from the moment they enter the space.

Hyangsimjae Clinic has been recognized for its outstanding design, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022. This prestigious accolade celebrates the clinic's innovative approach, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology to contribute to improvements in quality of life.
