Award-winning designer Takako Yoshikawa revitalizes a historic house into a contemporary dining experience
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Award-winning designer Takako Yoshikawa has transformed a historic house in Shinsaibashi, Osaka, into a modern restaurant and wine bar. The project, which began in March 2020, has garnered international recognition, including the prestigious German Design Award in 2022.
The two-story wooden structure, with a total area of 143m2, underwent a full renovation to create a comfortable and clean new space while retaining the old taste. The design combines traditional Japanese architectural elements with Western-style influences from the Taisho era, resulting in a unique and contemporary space.
Yoshikawa's vision was to design a space that feels like beautiful art, with the value increasing over time. The completion of this unique and topical old folk house has changed the atmosphere of the street and increased the value of the area.
