Porto, Portugal - Award-winning designer Ricardo Porto Ferreira introduces a revolutionary retail space for Portugal Vineyards, offering a 360-degree immersive experience for wine enthusiasts. The concept store, awarded the Golden A' Design Award, features a blindingly white and minimal interior with circular circulation, redefining the traditional retail environment.

Ricardo Porto Ferreira's innovative design for Portugal Vineyards' first physical store challenges traditional concepts of retail space. The 90m2 open-plan store, located adjacent to the company's headquarters, offers a unique environment for showcasing Portuguese wines. The blindingly white interior and circular circulation create a captivating backdrop for the 600 wine references on display.
The shelves, carved out of the walls in reference to the terraced vineyards, provide a seamless and immersive experience for customers, with no counters to divide them from the staff. The design promotes a client-centric approach, where the staff are positioned on the client side, offering personalized suggestions and service.
Utilizing advanced technology and meticulous attention to detail, the curving walls are constructed of gypsum board supported by a metal frame, while the engineered wood shelves are integrated into the structure. The color scheme, RAL 9003, was chosen to enhance the wine tasting process and create a visually stunning background for the wine display.
The project, realized from April to September 2019, overcame creative and technical challenges to transform a square space into a circular plan, providing a harmonious and engaging environment for visitors. The design also allows the space to be used for supplier presentations and wine tasting events, catering to the diverse needs of the clientele.
