Horace Lam's MABY Smart Lighting System is a revolutionary multifunction lamp that inspires creativity and connectivity
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Horace Lam's MABY Smart Lighting System is a groundbreaking multifunction lamp that aims to inspire creativity and connectivity. The design was inspired by Lam's three-year-old son, who sparked the idea of creating a toy that could inspire and connect everyone. The project received the Hong Kong invention patent funding and invention patents from five other countries, making it a globally recognized innovation.
MABY's unique features include its cells that allow users to envision and build any structures with ease, sensors equipped cells for greater control, and MABY Skin, a series of beautifully colored pattern plates to complement users' visions and add to the aesthetic of the creations.
The design process involved deconstructing 3D blocks into sets of four different 2D shapes, called cells, to allow for maximum building flexibilities. Extensive research and development resources were dedicated to the precise PCB design and lighting inside compact cells, ensuring the highest quality and functionality.
The MABY Smart Lighting System includes the MABY brain, maby cells in various shapes, and maby Skin pattern plates. The system can be operated through the MABY APP, allowing users to visualize and build their sculpture designs, adjust brightness, colors, and on/off status, and attach pattern plates to create their favorite MABY style.
The project concept and research started in 2015, with product mechanism, firmware, and APP structures development from 2017 to 2018. MABY has been showcased at prestigious exhibitions such as "Marketing Pulse 2019" in Hong Kong, Maison & Object in France, and Design Inspire in Hong Kong.
Horace Lam's MABY Smart Lighting System has overcome numerous creative, technical, and research challenges, including the development of connectors that can withstand forces and serve as communication ports for data transmission from the App. The design has been awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding expertise and innovation.
