Amorphous Cabinet: A Fusion of Timeless Design

Doruk Kubilay presents the Amorphous Cabinet, a sculptural furniture piece that transcends time and style. This unique cabinet draws inspiration from the concept of time travel, seamlessly blending elements from different design eras to create a bold and striking statement piece. With a homage to the Art Deco period and the Memphis Design movement, the Amorphous Cabinet incorporates its own eclectic twist, making it a standout addition to any space.

During the design process, emphasis was placed on creating a sculptural piece with sleek, non-conventional elegance, featuring bold colors, patterns, and sweeping curves. Crafted with artisanal local craftsmanship, the cabinet's softly curved silhouette is made of bent plywood, veneered with wood, and enriched with partial stainless brass touches and leather accessories.

The Amorphous Cabinet's technical specifications include flexible plywood, brass, Alpi veneer, and leather materials, finished with a matt varnish. It also features two rechargeable and motion-sensored LED lights, with dimensions measuring W 93.6cm/36.8in, D 50 cm/19.68in, H 177.5cm/69.88in. This exceptional piece, weighing 149 kg, was produced over a 4-month period by local craftsmanship in Istanbul, Turkey.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, showcasing its outstanding creativity and ingenious design that contributes to quality of life improvements.
