Introducing Hazuto, a cutting and serving board designed by Tom Chan, featuring a unique metal rim for enhanced durability and aesthetics. The board is a blend of functionality and style, offering a fresh tactile experience for everyday kitchen tasks.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tom Chan's Hazuto cutting and serving board is a distinctive addition to kitchen essentials. Inspired by the sleek metallic elements in modern technology products, the design features a one-piece steel rim that not only adds visual appeal but also provides robustness and protection against warping and impacts.
The use of black walnut wood, known for its moderate hardness and rich color, sets Hazuto apart from traditional cutting boards. The carefully rounded edges and food-grade stainless steel rim and screws ensure both durability and a sleek, industrial aesthetic.
Measuring 230 x 14 x 325 mm, Hazuto offers a versatile solution for various kitchen tasks, from everyday cutting to serving bread, cheese, and fruits. The design's efficiency and form factor make it suitable for small urban kitchens while meeting the needs of a small family.
Tom Chan and Melanie Man led the design team, conducting extensive research to ensure Hazuto meets user expectations and industry trends. The project, initiated in October 2019, culminated in the completion of the final design by December 2019, with the first batch of samples produced in January 2020.
The innovative design of Hazuto earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware category in 2020. The board's unique blend of functionality and aesthetics, along with its meticulous craftsmanship, sets it apart in the market.
