Architect Vitor Almeida completes a stunning refurbishment project in Lisbon, Portugal, blending 18th-century grandeur with 21st-century elegance.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Architect Vitor Almeida has completed the transformation of a historic property in Lisbon, Portugal, into a luxurious apartment. The project, which started in May 2019 and was completed in June 2020, involved the integration of modern amenities into an 18th-century building originally designed as a Hotel Particulier. The architect's goal was to maintain and restore the property's architectural heritage while seamlessly blending it with contemporary elements to cater to the new family's needs.
The 315 m2 apartment features five new bathrooms, seamlessly integrated into the existing space without disrupting the original design details. Artisan painters were employed to restore the colorful mural and ceiling paintings, while structural furniture and partitions made of glass, mirrors, stainless steel, and brass were added to create new living spaces. The use of various shades of velvet and different marble stones complements the original colors of the apartment, creating a timeless and luxurious atmosphere.
Architect Vitor Almeida's meticulous research into the building's history and the client's needs, along with a careful selection of 21st-century furniture pieces, has resulted in a harmonious blend of old and new. The project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding expertise and innovation in seamlessly integrating modern elements into a historic property.
