An AR experience designed by Hsin-Chien Huang, "Three States of Home Gazing" brings Kuo Hsueh-hu's historic artwork to life, offering an alternative approach to museum viewing, and enhancing the overall museum experience.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hsin-Chien Huang's AR experience, "Three States of Home Gazing," aims to reproduce the historical period illustrated by the artist Kuo Hsueh-hu, offering an alternative approach to museum viewing. Through interaction with illustrations in immersive and expansive environments, it enhances the overall museum experience. Kuo Hsueh-Hu is the most important glue color painting artist in Taiwan, and this AR experience is a returned journey to his hometown of his spirit and imagination.
Utilizing AR technology, "Three States of Home Gazing" brings Kuoâs work, "Festival on South Street (1930)," to life, allowing viewers to take a closer look at the painting whether at home or at the museum. It even enables users to walk into the Taipei Dadaocheng area in 1930 from the painting in virtual reality, creating a brand new combination between AR and art shows.
This AR experience can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Store, making it accessible to a wide audience. The project started in 2019 and finished in 2020 in Taipei, Taiwan, and is expected to contribute to the inheritance of local culture and the re-creation of the museum experience.
Hsin-Chien Huang, an artist specializing in mixed media, collaborated with Laurie Anderson, and their VR work "La Camera Insabbiata" won the best VR experience Award at the 74th Venice Film Festival. His latest work âBodylessâ also won several awards, demonstrating his expertise in virtual reality and mixed media.
