Cloudy Water Xiaoxiang Shadow: A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

Shanghai Sankeshu Xiaosen New Material Technology Co., Ltd introduces "Cloudy Water Xiaoxiang Shadow," a new seasonal color panel design developed in collaboration with Polytechnic University of Milan. Inspired by the glazing color of Jian Kiln Tianmu Porcelain from the Song Dynasty in Fujian, this innovative design employs a hand-dripping spray painting technique to convey the abstraction of empty mountains and misty clouds, capturing the majestic aesthetics of the Song Dynasty through traditional Chinese ink materials.

Measuring 229*266*140mm, the design features composite wood panels, high gloss, and silver powder materials, creating a unique texture reminiscent of Tianmu porcelain. The design team, including Xiaoling Hu, Bin Wang, Yue Li, Cong Chen, Shuang Zheng, Xia Liu, Yi Huang, and Mario Bisson, overcame creative and technical challenges to integrate traditional Chinese elements effectively into the work, resulting in a distinctive piece suitable for both home decor and artistic expression.

This art piece not only serves as a decorative element but also creates a cultural and emotional bond with the user, offering a visually appealing yet distinct home environment. "Cloudy Water Xiaoxiang Shadow" was designed and developed in March 2023 in Beijing and launched in August 2023 in China, winning the Iron A' Design Award in 2024 for its innovative and practical approach.
