Paul Bo Peng's design, Vanke Moon Over The Sea, is a poetic selling and exhibition center located in Guangzhou, China, designed in 2018, and awarded the Golden A' Design Award in 2020.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Inspired by the metaphorical meanings of sea and moon in Chinese poetry, Vanke Moon Over The Sea embodies a spiritual and poetic condition. The project features floating boxes, a sculptural staircase, and a seamless integration of space, creating a unique spatial continuity. The use of white terrazzo and red copper rusted steel forms a dramatic contrast, while the showroom's connection to the exterior and a dedicated space for children's activities enhance the in-between spatial experience.
The design is a testament to transcendent thinking, seeking to go beyond the formal agencies of a selling center and provide a space for imagination within a cultural domain. The project's spatial qualities aim to take users on a journey through diverse interior spaces within a dynamic organizational system.
The transformation of a primary gymnasium school into a selling center posed creative and technical challenges, including the reuse of the original equipment and swimming pool structure. Despite these challenges, the design successfully integrated five sets of model houses as showrooms, meeting the client's demands with a flexible approach.
Paul Bo Peng's approach to design emphasizes transcending established attributes and shaping the future environment. His work reflects a blend of modern design style with oriental traditions, showcasing a series of high-quality works with modern temperament and oriental charm.
