Greater Hermit: Harmonious Blend of Rigidity and Luxury

AS International LTD has unveiled "Greater Hermit," a luxurious residence design that harmoniously blends rigidity and luxury. The project, completed in November 2022 in Taiwan, China, is a testament to the designer's ingenuity and meticulous planning.

The project is a renovation of a 15-year-old apartment and is a harmonious interweaving of classic building materials with subtle variations and tensions. The 71.9 square meter space was transformed into a four-room layout, with a reduced corridor width to allow for more private space.

The core of the project was to consider the client's large collection of custom-made items for the next twenty years. The storage area was well-planned to encompass the custom-made model collection, integrating the functional and aesthetic needs of the client's collection through an orderly arrangement of the display space.

Marble, iron, spray paint, glass, fabric, wood veneer, special paint, and smart appliances were used to realize the project, creating a highly contemporary and minimalist style. The interior of the room is covered with light and dark materials to adjust the unique layers, with gold and metal accents harmonizing the colorful model collection with the interior design style.

One of the challenges was to integrate the living function into the storage and display needs while reversing the standard and uninteresting feeling of storage. The designer evaluated the size and items of the client's collection and then selected the number of display shelves and cabinets to achieve the perfect balance.

AS International LTD's "Greater Hermit" has been awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative nature that meets professional and industrial requirements.
