White Rose English School by Naoko Horibe

Naoko Horibe's White Rose English School is a unique educational facility designed to inspire children's potential for the future. Situated near Takatsuki Castle ruins park, the building's innovative design incorporates soft curves and large openings, serving as a symbol of the region and a place for the local community.

The school's facade, featuring semicircles instead of complete circles, symbolizes children's potential in learning English, with the front projected portion representing the energy and liveliness of the students. The building's design allows for easy drop-off and pick-up, with two arches facilitating drive-thru access and providing views of the park's greenery.

Constructed with a minimalist approach, the building offers an open space that combines functionality and design, featuring a protruding slab and large openings. The design also includes a spacious parking area, waiting spaces on each floor, and a baby corner for the convenience and safety of both children and parents.

Naoko Horibe's design for White Rose English School began in June 2012 and was completed in April 2014. The project overcame challenges such as accommodating shuttle buses under the pilotis and meeting height restrictions, resulting in a structure that seamlessly integrates architectural and structural elements.

Horibe Associates, led by Naoko Horibe, aims to create architecture that is not only visually appealing and functional but also enduring and beloved by the community. The White Rose English School has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023, showcasing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design.
