Qterra Craft: Revolutionizing On-the-Go Brewing

Pierre Baston introduces Qterra Craft, a groundbreaking travel mug designed to brew fresh coffee or tea on the go with unparalleled ease and convenience. Inspired by the rich mate culture in Argentina, Qterra Craft offers a seamless, eco-friendly solution for coffee and tea enthusiasts worldwide.

Qterra Craft is a travel mug that simplifies the process of brewing coffee or tea on the go. With a simple twist of a dial, users can start and stop the brewing process without ever opening the mug, ensuring a mess-free experience. The mug also features a rapid cooling mechanism, indicated by a color-changing ring, to ensure safe and enjoyable drinking temperatures. Additionally, interchangeable artistic medallions allow for personalized style with every use.

To achieve precise brewing control without the risk of spills, Qterra Craft utilizes a telescoping basket with a unique cam-and-follower design. This innovative approach keeps brewing ingredients fresh during transport and expands to enable brewing in response to the external dial. The mug also incorporates a heat-absorbing phase change material in its walls to quickly cool hot beverages to a safe temperature for consumption.

With dimensions of 100mm (widest) and 62mm (base), and a weight of 0.7kg, Qterra Craft offers a compact and portable solution for on-the-go brewing. The mug holds 355ml of brewed beverage and requires no electrical power, cords, or batteries, making it an ideal companion for travel and daily use.

Pierre Baston, along with the Qterra Craft design team, including industrial designer Raeshon McNeil and lead engineer Patrick Bailey, has successfully realized a travel mug that delivers rich flavor and antioxidants through fresh, on-the-spot brewing. The project, which began in Philadelphia in 2017, culminated in the launch of Qterra Craft in November 2021, marking a significant milestone in the realm of portable beverage brewing.

The innovative design of Qterra Craft was recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware category in 2022. This prestigious accolade acknowledges the exceptional creativity and resourcefulness demonstrated by Qterra Craft, highlighting its contribution to enhancing the quality of life for users worldwide.
