Discover the innovative design of the "House in Sinjyo" by Kiyoshi Sugimoto, a residential building that redefines privacy and relaxation in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kiyoshi Sugimoto's "House in Sinjyo" is a remarkable residential building that stands out for its unique approach to privacy and relaxation. Situated on a sloped site in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, this one-story house maximizes the use of a small flat area, creating a private and serene space for its occupants. The design features a spacious light court shared by the living room and bathroom, offering a tranquil retreat for the couple who commissioned the project.
The innovative use of a light court, set two stairs higher than the living room, allows for an open and airy atmosphere while maintaining privacy from the nearby national highway bypass. The design's strength lies in its ability to seamlessly blend privacy and relaxation, offering a hotel-like experience within a residential setting.
Constructed using wood, the "House in Sinjyo" boasts a site area of 373.56m2, a building area of 110.69m2, and a total floor area of 94.26m2. The careful consideration of the floor plan and the use of the light court as a device to collect light while preserving privacy demonstrate the meticulous research and creative problem-solving that went into the design.
One of the standout features of the "House in Sinjyo" is its unique approach to privacy and relaxation. The design effectively blocks sound and sight from the nearby bypass while allowing ample light and wind to permeate the living space. This achievement was the result of a careful study of the floor plan, aiming to create an open and spacious atmosphere despite the structural limitations of the wooden construction.
Completed in 2018, the "House in Sinjyo" represents a harmonious blend of innovative design, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of the clients' needs. The project has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2021, underscoring its outstanding creativity and professional excellence.
