Award-winning designer Nataliia Pleshkova unveils Roentgen, a nightstand reinterpreting historical furniture innovation for modern living
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nataliia Pleshkova's Roentgen nightstand draws inspiration from the ingenious works of 18th-century German cabinetmaker David Roentgen, known for his mechanical furniture with secret drawers and compartments. The design involves the owner in the process of unlatching and expanding it outward into the room, offering additional useful storage space and protection for personal belongings. The concept was developed and visualized in January 2020 in Miami.
Roentgen nightstand is made of solid wood and features a set of hidden drawers that can be accessed by pulling outward the visible section of drawers and turning it left or right. The design is available in a wide range of color and material combinations, with push-to-open technology for drawers. The nightstand measures 400mm in width, 480mm in depth, and 480mm in height.
The nightstand has 2 sets of drawers - visible and hidden. If a fake bottom drawer is pulled outward, the hidden set of drawers will appear. It includes 1 large drawer with built-in recharges for electronic devices, 2 visible small drawers, and 5 hidden small drawers. The wireless charger is located in the upper right or left corner, depending on the configuration.
Nataliia Pleshkova is a recent graduate from the interior design program at UCLA Extension in Los Angeles, California. She specializes in residential interior design and brings her passion for interior design history into her projects, often drawing on historical references and reinterpreting them in terms of current trends, needs, materials, and modern technologies in interior design and furniture production.
