Mooncraft: A Unique Blend of History and Innovation

O&O Studio's Mooncraft, a boutique bar located at the Cool Docks in Shanghai, seamlessly integrates historical inspiration with innovative design elements. The bar draws from the rich history of the Shanghai Bund and the Shiliupu era, offering a space filled with time, stories, and emotional moments. Mooncraft features a hand-crafted beer bar, whiskey bar, restaurant, and a unique robotic bartender, providing a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors.

The 130sqm space occupies three connecting shop units and operates as a single, cohesive area. By utilizing additional partitions and raised platforms, the design effectively absorbs the existing structure, creating distinct zones while maintaining a sense of space. The main elevation showcases weathered steel portals inspired by dockside warehouses, forming a striking entrance and connecting the interior with the outside space.

Mooncraft's design challenges were met with thorough site analysis, spatial arrangement, materiality, and user-centric considerations. The bar's unique brand identity, including its name and logo, is seamlessly integrated into the architectural and interior design, offering a holistic and immersive experience for patrons.
