Vanke Design Commune introduces a unique auditorium and public area concept, designed by Wang Jingjing, to foster community engagement and collaboration.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Vanke Design Commune has revealed an innovative auditorium and public area concept designed by Wang Jingjing, aimed at creating a community-style public space that encourages collaboration and interaction among design firms and individuals. The project, located on Dashi 2nd Road, Nanshan District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, China, spans an area of 2582.78 square meters and was realized between May 19, 2020, and February 8, 2021.
The design features a unique "floating path" in the full-height front hall, offering a three-dimensional garden touring-like experience on the way to the auditorium from the entrance. This steel-structure corridor, supported by existing vertical columns, creates a mysterious levitation effect through the contrast of concrete and metal, while also concealing pipelines.
Wang Jingjing's design reshapes functions, reorganizes circulation routes, and adopts visual guiding expressions to maximize design firms' vitality, potential, and value, fostering innovative scenes that facilitate collaboration and connection. The auditorium's "floating path" simplifies the original circulation route, achieving a perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics.
Challenges such as poor accessibility and the need to serve the designer community were overcome through a design scheme that reshaped circulations inside and outside the exhibition hall, effectively offering design-linked services to the community. The project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to quality of life improvements.
